Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for design & construction activities related to Piping, Equipment (Stationary, Rotary, Material Handling), construction management at project site, coordination within the design and construction team of internal and consultant and ensure that all capital projects delivered are technically fit for purpose and meet the statutory requirements.
  • 12 to 17 years of relevant experience in managing Greenfield & Brownfield Projects for Pharmaceutical / Chemical / Specialty Chemical / Agrochemical industries.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience in various phases of projects like Conceptual Design, FEED, Detail Engineering, Construction, Mechanical Completion, Commissioning & Project Close out.
  • Good knowledge in Piping and Equipment (Stationary & Rotary) design, understanding, preparing, and interpreting drawings and documents like Design Basis, Equipment sizing calculations, GA Drawings,3D Modelling, NDT requirements, ITP & QAP requirements, Workshop Fabrication Drawings, MDS, Piping Layouts, Equipment Layouts, Technical Specifications & Data Sheets, BOQ, Tender, Contract, etc. requirements.
  • Good knowledge of major industry Codes and Standards (e.g., ASME, API, PD etc.) applicable to Pressure Equipment.
  • Familiarity with software for design and stress calculations. (PV Elite, Compress, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of sizing calculations, equipment layouts, plot plans, plant layouts, materials selection, stress analysis, stress critical lines, and preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience in quality checks of Piping, Equipment and FPS, Mechanical Completion, Pre-Commissioning checks, Testing, and Commissioning.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience of various standards/codes related to Design of Piping, Equipment, like ASME, API, TEMA, ASME Sec-VIII, Dev.1, ASME Sec-II, ASME Sec-IX, ASME B31.1, B31.2, B31.5, IBR, NFPA 1, 10, 13,14, 20, 22, 24, 72, 101, 2001, 2010, 5000 (as the baseline to know) IS, FM Global, NBC, NFPA70, IS 5780/IEC 60079-11, IEC60079, ATEX, various codes and standards for Material, Dimensions, Welding, NDT, 3D Model, Caesar II, CADWorx, PDMS, SP3, API, IS, BS, etc.
  • Must possess Strong negotiations skills, leadership skills, good networking, aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers, experience in collecting and analysing data, excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Responsible for review and approval of complete design of Piping, Equipment (Stationary & Rotary of Process, ETP/STP and Material Handling), Design Basis, Technical Specifications, Sizing Calculations, Layouts, RFQ, Contract / Tender documents, BOQ, and all other deliverables.
  • Design & engineering of static & rotary equipment like Pumps, Fans, Blowers, Pressure Vessels, Heat Exchangers, Towers, Tanks, Agitators, etc., in compliance with international codes and standards, project specifications, & general specifications prevalent in chemical industries.
  • Perform and check design calculations and drawings, prepare equipment datasheets, requisitions, carry out technical bid evaluations and review vendor documents.
  • Responsible for analysing critical piping systems of pumps, equipment, turbines, compressors, and other high pressure / temperature piping arrangement including jacketed piping systems.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Candidate should have experience in handling 3-4 projects.
  • Should have handled minimum 50-100 crore project.
  • Someone who has handled expansion of Brownfield projects worth 50-100 crores will also be considered.
  • The selected candidate will have to join thane office as currently only land acquisition and environment clearing is done.
  • Construction is expected to start in Dahej, Gujarat by month of June therefore for first 1-year employees will work out of Thane, they might or might not be required to shift after one year to Dahej.
